The best metric I have is whether I have money to spend in December/ January. In December 2021 I spent $10k putting new rock on my driveway, and paid for feed. This year I have an application in to FSA for a loan to cover my feed bills. It was a lot easier to pay the bills when Trump was president. It's not all to his credit or Biden's fault, but that's why Trump will win in November.
