RR Valley, ND; MN native | Too bad that owl can't be preserved in some manner it seems. A case of good intentions to prevent poaching that then go too far.
Back in the mid 50s, my late dad apparently shot this one and posed with it in the house! My only remaining aunt in her 80s (dad would have been 91 this month) seems to think it was not dead in the photo.
Wish I could ask dad what the story was here, but I only found the picture after he passed in 2012.
