Minneota, MN | PLO has great advice for switching. I switched my email address a number of years ago from my ISP to a Gmail account (best move ever going from a POP3 email account to a cloud-based Gmail account). Managing emails, especially if you access emails on your smart phone, tablet, PC is a nightmare using a POP3-based email account.
Like PLO said, just tackle this over time, updating online accounts to your new email address and friends and family and contacts as you see them using your old email.
I set up my Gmail account to go out and grab my emails that were sent to my old ISP-based email account so I didn't have to bother with logging into my old email account all the time during the transition. Emails sent to my old email address then automatically forward and appeared in my Gmail account.
It took about a year to make sure that everyone had switched to using my Gmail account, but well worth it. My emails are no longer tied to an ISP and I know Gmail will be solid and continually improved for the foreseeable future. Good luck! | |
