Agreed. This is a very imprecise calculation. Better to err on the safe side. BTDT. In the late spring of 2013 following the drought of 2012 I ran out of hay just as calving started. Old ditch hay was $225 a bale - if you could find some at all. This drought I sold cows as the drought went on.
