The brain prefers ketones for fuel and will utilize them any time they are in the bloodstream. People with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's can benefit from a ketogenic diet as the brain readily utilizes ketones for fuel whereas glucose is not being utilized very well.
Would it be a valid hypothesis that someone who has had a lifetime diet high in sugar and carbs might be more susceptible to these diseases? |
