Holly Hill, SC | We bought a 5240 in the mid 1990's for a sprayer tractor. Got the high clearance tires and rims. 300 gallon tank with Blumhardt 60' boom on the 3pt hitch. Never really liked hydraulic levers or the unlock safety switch for the 3pt hitch. Never could get our help at the time figure out how to use it without the hitch load violently dropping to match the control lever. Problems we have had: needed rebuilt injector pump, new water pump, one new AC line, weld on new ends to the 3pt hitch arms (wore out with the heavy 300 gallon tank), rear fuel tank fill spout, and weld cracks in the rims. Currently have a transmission light come on at start up and will not drive. Shut it off, restart and it works fine. Hasn't been used much in the last 18 years but still gets used to run the cotton module builder or a small dirt pan. Last week changed the valve cover gasket, adjusted valves, and changed fuel pump gasket. Overall has been a very reliable tractor but does not age well. Looks rough these days.
