You are correct in the sense it did not change world demand but I don't think you are factoring the carryover can be shifted in location based on price just the same as our basis in the states does the same. This effect made the US carryout grow tremendously during the trade war and had a major role in impacting price for several years following. Heck imo it is still having an impact with the investment in Brazil being pushed more rapidly as we became an unreliable supplier. Pissing off your customer let alone number one customer typically isn't good business for most companies. Although the trade war may have been smart for our country as a whole the US grain producer was the fall guy.
