Big Ben...do you think a Manitou Mlt523 would work for moving/loading 3x4 alfalfa bales? We are a small alfalfa grower needing to load trucks from our stack yard. Thinking of putting a loader on a JD 7520, but stumbled across the Manitou and your comments on it. Our bales average 1300lbs
Thanks
Yes, a 523 can lift two 4x4 or three 3x4 bales at a time as long as you don’t get overextended down low. It’ll load or unload a truck just fine from one side, just will be a little light on the back when reaching the far side. A 523 won’t lift high enough to peak stacks, but neither will a 7520 with a loader.
If you get the Manitou you will never again consider putting a loader on a tractor. The tractor’s only advantage vs the telehandler in the stack yard is air conditioning.
