I think guys here had the 760’s before JD made the 8820 because the 760 was supposed to have more capacity/wider cylinder.
The 760 was introduced in 1971 about 8 years before the 8820. The 760 was the biggest combine in NA for a time. I have a newspaper clipping detailing the introduction of the 760. In the article Massey states when they shipped the 760 by rail they could only use certain rail ways because of the excessive width. The article also states the 760 had 80 to 100% more capacity then the 510 which was true based on our experience. I also have the first brochures put out for the 760 and they brag you could set a Voltswagon Beatle on the walkers and still have enough room to open the door.
