At the time Massey combines had more features than anyone else - first with quick tach heads ( I don’t consider the early gleaners having a good quick tach system), rotary screen , hyd swing turret auger, cascade sieves , high inertia cylinder…..
Gleaner may have first with electric over hyd but Massey had the nice handle that had both propulsion speed and header height on one control .


I’ll add Massey put the first modern self propelled combine on the market in the early 40s which was made more famous by the Harvest Brigrade. So they got a head start on JD and Gleaner and they had over 50% of the market at their peak back in the 50s. Today’s generation wouldn’t know it but Massey at one time was the undisputed leader in combine sales and innovation.
