SW MN | I agree that the design of this fuel tank could have been modified to allow removing the final drive with the tank in place. On the other hand, if they really needed some extra fuel, they should have worked harder at wrapping the tank around final drive better. Just half-assed blocking some of the access is a sign of young designer without enough real-world experience.
Think about this for a second: That person would have had a supervisor, so at least two people are involved. Better yet, something as complicated as the design of a fuel tank would necessarily have gone through multiple design reviews with a larger group, likely including people from Production assembly and Service. Didn't anyone speak up?
