| There is a room at the Product Engineering Center that has hundreds of "engineers "of various types sitting in cubicles that each do one little job.
My nephew started out doing drafting type work and one time a senior engineer wanted to change one dimension on a oil pan on an IVT but it took months and dozens of meetings to make sure everyone who had a part that might bolt up near it to sign off..then they had to get bids on a new pan from suppliers and then actually get them made for the next model.
The assembly supervisors don't have a lot of clout,,a couple times they tried to get a part changed so it could be handled easier but I never saw any success.
I have seen women who designed cabs not have a clue what the levers and buttons do,,,,most of the men who are engineers have a mechanical background but some just play on computers and never get into a real tractor | |
