| I had/have a 20 acre field that had a good stand of alfalfa that the brome died out of so I mixed a bag of Timothy in the fertilizer spreader while they loaded it and got a pretty decent catch of Timothy for what I wanted , but it took a year or so. Do not remember what month we did it though. SAme field then winter killed inJan. of 2019 so in 2020 (was also getting a little rougher then I like) so I dragged it 2 different directions with a spring tooth set about 1/2 inch deep when the grass was 3-4 inches tall then spread about 10- 15# alfalfa over it with a electric broadcast seeder then dragged once more. cut the hay on the early side to reduce competition, did not yield much but got what I consider a perfect stand for most of the field except for some reason it is a little thin across the top 4 acres especially on one end, not saying it will work for you or even I can replicate it again. | |
