Farm & Home used to sell the blue 5 quart ones, lately they've gone with 6 quart green ones. I buy them on sale, have had 1 green one quit, still using last 3 blue ones. They are a little different design than yours, possibly a different brand.

I fasten the one for the dog to a wood platform and use timers and adjust the settings for the temps. I always have a spare ready for the dog.

Last year the dog one would freeze when the temps were below zero and the wind was blowing.

I'm using it for the cats in the machine shed this year, hasn't froze yet with temps to around 5 below.

Until a week or so ago, I had them set: half hour on then half hour off, the last week I've had them plugged in full time. If the low for the night is down to 27, I'll unplug them.
