| I raised a lot of calves when I milked cows feeding the calf out of an open bucket, give them fingers to suck on for the first meal or 2 , just transition them to drinking quickly so they do not "need" the fingers, I agree with others tubing is last resort, nothing to be gained in your scenario and would go 1 step further, rather then buy colostrum the cow should have some when she freshens, milk it out by hand and use that to feed the calf, if she has none then buy it., unless you think she has Johnnes then you would not want the calf to get her milk. | |
