| First off, let's make sure we are talking about the right tractor/engine setup as a "500 Quad" can be a lot of different things anymore.
A 2012 500 Quad should be a Tier IVa engine with a single turbocharger with unit injectors that run off of the engine camshaft.
28 psi at idle when the engine is at operating temperature is low in this application, like you say.
Verify that you are getting fuel into the engine oil by either an oil sample or check to see if the engine oil level is rising during normal operation.
I have seen this happen on a 485 Steiger that runs a similar engine setup.....the cylinder head was cracked in the location of the fuel rail that supplies the injectors. Pressurizing the fuel rail showed the crack immediately. I have also seen an hex-headed plug come loose that is in the area of the fuel rail as well. Both of these are under the valve cover. The fuel pump mentioned above is valid as well for having a possible seal leaking.
I wouldn't run it any more than you have to until you have it diagnosed properly as it can go from a small $$$ repair to a big one in a hurry. | |
