That’s almost exactly 100 miles, with a rate of fall of 1’ per mile. It worked out almost perfectly for drainage.
I'm not sure what you know about drainage, but a foot per mile is definitely not perfect for drainage. In reality, it's only slightly more than the curvature of the earth, which means it's basically flat.
