Subject: Solar eclipse

nw NC
If you have not heard about it, there will be a total solar eclipse visible across North America on April 8, 2024.
Info with maps and times. https://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/total-solar-eclipse-april8...
Get ready and make plans to see it. There will not be a another total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous U.S. until August 23, 2044.

I've seen a few partial solar eclipses in my lifetime but I have never been in the path of totality and will not be again this time. Eclipse of March 7, 1970 path of totality was east of here. Eclipse of August 21, 2017 was south of here. Pictures below are from 2017.
1. My view of sun at maximum coverage. A star was visible to the right.
2. Shadows of tree leaves giving pin-hole camera effect to beams of light reaching the ground.
3. Party supplies for the day!
