S Illinois | Argentina is doing relatively well. Rainfall is back to normal patterns with most in the adequate category.
Argentina is basically comparable to the southern 2/3’s of IL. They have soils as good as any in the I states up to lighter timber soil. They also have similar rainfall rates during the growing season that IL does. 3-5” of monthly rainfall but in general it is drier during their winter. Their largest problem is the concentration of those acres. With the Argentinian acreage having a relatively small geographical footprint, a stuck weather pattern hits them harder relatively when compared to the US or Brazil as last year showed. | |
