Always a carrot hanging for the cattle. What are some ways others try to catch the carrot. I have never used Lrp don’t really know what it is crop ins for cattle? I personally either use puts or calls to hedge lbs. always seems to me that when I do it’s money thrown away well an insurance I suppose. I like starting the year around that $170 not record high but also it’s $170. I personally think cattle will be strong throughout the year with its chops. I can’t remember what last years high was like $199-201. That’s my target. I’m Long the hoof and might Texas hedge in the future. God bless the USA I don’t see the herd expanding yet. This spring if tall grass is abundant heifers might be kept back to start the process.
