Sheridan Mi
There's a special bred cow sale at the sale barn here every first Friday in January. Two years ago, I had extra money and feed, so I hooked on to the trailer and went. I bought seven of the cheapest black cows to come through the ring. Paid $6800 for seven, so less than a thousand each, average.

I gave $900 for one old gal and the wife hit me as soon as I did. She asked if I saw the bag on her. Can't say that I did. It was pretty big and ugly. When she calved, the bag was huge. I had to bottle feed the calf a couple of times until it got a hold of her. It took off and did fine though. I got real lucky that fall because she didn't breed back. If she had, I'd have been stubborn enough to try her one more year and beyond a shadow of a doubt, I wouldn't have been so lucky the second time.

I loaded her up and took her to the sale barn and sold her as a cull. She brought $1150. I got a good live calf and I made $250.
