I have a hard time forgetting and forgiving myself about a 'perfectly good dead calf'.

For example, a calf is born beside a creek. Mom chose the location because it was the only dry spot. The little wobbly critter stumbles over the edge, struggles and eventually drowns in 4 inches of water. Yea, those stick with me.
