SW MN | I would look at the high speed top loaders. I have front load on their stand, still have to bend over and look inside. ( how's your back?) Just think, you need a Damn good seal, and can not stop mid wash. Mine is 12 years old and I have replaced the pump, From mostly a one person household., You have to leave the door open to prevent MOLD.. If your washing machine is in a traffic area or closet, this will not work well. I also suggest buying local appliance store. You supporting your local businesses, not some Corporate entity.
edit: my machines are Kenmore Elite. aka LG. The dryer has had the electrical heating element replaced. There're not simple to replace like machines of 30 years ago. You have to disassemble the entire machine to get at the element. And the Washer the pump.
