Cheap feed helps. The goal is to be one bid over kill price. Usually want to be done buying by January as cow buyers get "green grass fever" and throw away their calculator later.
Your friends and family (maybe wife depending how ranchy she is) will make fun of you.
I did it for about 7 years. Selling back the old cows and steers and keeping the heifers.
