Subject: RE: Stuck ring in a newly rebuilt Cummins Big Cam

Bloomfield MO
Injectors tested good. Used 20psi of air at the injector cup, to see if any valves were leaking or air getting around rings. Everything seemed tight. Reinstalled injectors but swapped #1 and #2. Rocker box put on, plugged oil supply for Jake. Ran overhead on 1 and 2. Started truck and #1 and #2 had no white smoke but #5 did. Pulled the top and Jake off 5 and 6, plugged the Jake oil supply, ran overhead on 5. Started truck and 5 seemed to just smoke intermittently. I’m wondering if jakes, though never on or even wired up yet are putting too much pressure on the exhaust valves? Also heads were rebuilt with new valves. How much running time before they seat properly? Think I’m gonna run it a few miles, get it hot and rerun the overhead.
