Without dropping the oil pan and pushing the rod/piston, out the top, is there a way to remedy a stuck ring? Excessive fuel and smoke was noticed at startup, with fuel seeping around exhaust manifold. Removed turbo and manifold, started engine and definite white smoke from #2. So, idea is broke injector o ring, stuck injector or loss of compression. Pulled valve cover and rocker box, removed #2 injector and o rings are good. Injectors were all exchanged at a reputable pump shop very recently, as well. Gonna have injector tested today but my gut tells me low compression. That’s the whole story.
If these were Cummins Reman injectors, I'd bet the price of the overhaul the injector is BAD. Surprised you don't have two or three bad holes.
Do yourself a favor if you're going to run this engine long term. Find a set of core injectors, send them to Premco in Texas. Have them rebuilt, it will cost about $2200 last time we did a set, shipping and all. Thank me later. |
