Check compression and I don’t think it is a ring problem. Very common to get a defective injector as replacement parts are sketchy sometimes. Also check valve lash. Let us know when you figure it out.
I considered, the overhead but I paid extremely close attention when I ran it. Injector set at 72”lbs, intake .011 and exhaust .023.
