The bucket and lid are cleaned with a regular bucket brush. The inflations get a special brush shaped to fit them. The hoses are cleaned by sucking hot soapy water through them then rinse with clean water. Not hard but easy to get your clothes wet and then you have to walk back to the house in freezing cold with the wind blowing. Milk is a challenge to clean because it has both fat and protein. Detergent cleans fat but it takes acid to remove protein. Water temperature perature is critical.

In the days of can milk it was drummed into farmers to never mix milk from two milkings to prevent bacteria growth. Bulk tanks had sufficient cooling to manage that but if you are storing it in a regular refrigerator you need to avoid mixing it.
