I would go with a bucket milker from the start..............those strap on surge's seem like a dissaster, not any fans of those around me. Alot around me milked with bucket milkers and dump stations for alot of years.
I've never used one, but there are folks who get along with them well. The strap on Surge has the fewest number of milk-contact parts of any machine milker. There's no milk hose and no claw. You can use a specially-shaped brush on the inflations without removing them, and everything else can be washed out in your (large) kitchen sink. Unlike a bucket milker, as soon as the cow is milked, you can turn off the vacuum source in the barn, and bring the milker unit to the house for washing. There's no need for vacuum for cleaning the milk hose. The downside is obviously getting them to hang correctly on the cow. |
