I generally prefer group-raised calves, and the last three photos show one of my methods of doing that on the cheap. Note that the calves can be widely varied in size, and because of the narrow feeding stalls, are not in competition for the milk bottles.
These specific methods likely won't apply to your colder climate and larger number of calves. But I'd strongly recommend group-raising of some sort. A canvas barn with outdoor pasture access would be ideal, in my opinion.
