We’re at 9hp/ft and it seems to be about perfect. Depends on how deep and how heavy your soil is. 100% prefer a track tractor to a tire machine when doing any kind of tillage. Much easier to take out your track prints and much better power to the ground (we run only 2 track machines, no quadtracs).

Also, we have a 44’ 2210 John Deere field cultivator on a 400hp Challenger MT775E and like it due to how short it is during transport, no real worry in regards to power lines. 44’ x 8mph = 42.6 ac/hr while 55 x 6.39 mph = 42.6 ac/hr
