I have never heard of this being a major issue nor was I ever advised to check for this type of wear. We’ve got a 4250 and a 4455 both with high hours and they have never been checked. I had assumed they would be leaking if there was an impending issue. It sounds like they are overdue for a checkup. I’d better add that to the list of winter maintenance.
