Nw Iowa | We have mostly stihl as that is most prevalent for dealers around. Everybody grabs the 14 year old husky first though. I am not a woodcutter but always buy the better line of saws if use it much at all. Stihl numbers are confusing which are a more professional and which are more of a homeowner saw. I just bought the better grade of Stihl ( I think the 261) nice saw as husky had a minor problem and above poster right, 3 weeks for parts. Haven’t been real happy with the new light bar though and after a couple of weeks of intermittent use I went to town and bought the older style bar which takes a different chain so jury still out on that one. I am far from a expert but I always get a mid or smaller size bar for a chain saw model as seems like saw has more power, quicker for mid size trees, have a bigger bar saw we use only when we need the bigger bar. I have a lighter stihl trim saw and really like that when you are working on a hedge row or other heavy brush that are hard to get thru with a larger saw.. Saws are like sockets, you need big ones and small ones if you are taking many trees down. Battery saws are fine for light trimming, but don't take a knife to a gunfight. | |
