Wow you are also going to be in the neighborhood relatively speaking. This was our first night here but no northern lights tonight. I have a couple pictures from today from my phone which are nothing like the camera I have or my wife's phone. It is a very bright moon we have seen most of the day.
These were taken about 2 pm today and it is midnight here as I post this.
I'll throw in a bad plane photo of the Arctic Circle as we flew north and through the zone of no more direct sunlight.
Enjoy your trip. The people are very friendly. We have several more days here to try to see the lights. Going to snow tomorrow so going to be cloudy and we are sitting just under 32 degrees F.
Edit to add photo descriptions:
1. Shadow of where the current Arctic Circle is where the sun doesn't directly hit the ground.
2. Looking out the window at the islands along the coast probably near where you are going.
3. Flying into Tromso
4. About 2 pm looking across the street south
5. Down at the bay on an island in the town of Hasvik looking south. Up on the hill was a big German fortress stopping ships at sea during WWII that was blown up by the Allied Forces.
6. The moon tonight while looking for northern lights.
