You can put as much time and money into it as you deem appropriate. Truth is you aren’t planning on shooting that far and a 17 has no recoil to speak of. A 3-9x32 Simmons scope and you really wouldn’t need anything more that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t enjoy a higher end one whether it will make much difference for what you’re doing probably not.
