Subject: RE: Case plow

Western Oregon
I wouldn't go changing a lot right off, remember it was used for decades, probably. Hard to see, but the plow points may need some work. How thick is the tip, how much do they turn down, all makes a difference, if they suck into the soil or not. When the plow is in the ground the hitch does pull up but they do. How high is your drawbar? Maybe get a height from an old tractor hitch like a SC/DC Case. What tractor are you pulling it with? May be better to change the width center to center of the tractor tires. Changing the hitch sideways too much may change the centerline pull of the plow and mess that up. There is a usual width for different plows for the setting of the width of the tractor tires. Your tires may be bigger than stock. Set the front to about 6" deep with the front lever (depending what tractor and how much power you have, maybe 7- 8". After you make a few rounds then use a level to check front to back on top of a beam and side to side across the 2 beams. More level the better. Small changes at first, more changes is better than 1 big one. Usual depth of cut is about 1/2 the bottom size. 14"=6"-7" depth. But can be more or less, just keep the plow as level as you can....James
