| Biodiesel blends will pick up zinc into the fuel and then re-deposit that zinc in undesirable places in engines most notably on injector nozzles resulting in poor spray pattern and atomization to the point of creating excess particulate emissions requiring more frequent regen and high fuel consumption. Big green does not allow zinc plated fittings in fuel system in machines. Other engine manufacturers are requiring stainless fittings and more and more plastic push to connect J2044 connectors to minimize amounts of built in zinc.
Galvanizing is zinc.
I’d use black iron and paint it when you have everything together.
I used to design fuel systems for Cat large engines and sell fluid convenyance products to a handful of large OEM’s. I see all the engineering specs. | |
