I mostly only use 7018. I did buy a box of 7018AC. They didn't seem to act like the plain ones at all. No doubt, the 7018 are hard to strike arc. But the quality of the weld is so much better.
Does Ed have a Lincoln motor generator in the back of his garage that you could use?
