MrFixIt - 12/15/2023 19:37 Find a Lowe’s and get a box of the Lincoln brand E7018AC. A much better welding rod than a standard 7018, especially for an AC welder. Best rods I’ve found.
I'll give it a try. The old 7018 I used to use was very hard to start an arc. This Lagrange stuff weld like a 6013 but is supposed to have more strength, more like the 70xx"s. Is Farmer's Choice still in business in Omaha?

I'm afraid none of the rods you get from any of the Box stores will weld like your LaGrange rod. But, they will work. Just don't be disappointed with the starting of the rods and how the metal flows.  I'm thoroughly convinced the big brand welding retail shops and upscale jobbers selling rod (like LaGrange) use better quality flux on the rod - part of the reason it cost more . .. . . .
