I have driven through the Going to the Sun road a couple times when it was too wet to combine. Rules change a bit, but There has been time in the afternoon/ evening to drive the sun road without a reservation. It will be crowded, East to West shows the glaciers much better in August. Needed to pay through recreation.gov this year.
