G5 Ag - 12/8/2023 20:48 It’s a fecon head with Deere stickers and black paint. I’d highly suggest running knives in the center of the drum. You’d be amazed the improvement in production.
Please expand on the Knives vs. carbide tips . . . What type or kind of knife, shape size etc, etc . .. . thanks
Sharp knives are made from hardened steel and can be sharpened with a grinder. They’re 1/4 the price of carbide’s. It’s the difference between cutting a tree with an ax vs a sledge hammer. A carbide doesn’t cut wood, just pulverizes it against the hammer strap in the rear of the housing. The argument of rocks is mute in my opinion. I’ll destroy a $25 knife over a $80 carbide any day. Adjust your hourly rate accordingly to accommodate the conditions and expense. To keep price down but production up, run knives in the center of the drum.
