2200 series fit case legacy machines like a 2388
2400 series fit flagship/CR/CX
96c TR/TX?
98c Flagship/CR/CX
All the same, and based off the older 996. i believe you can pull out adapters and make the 2200 or 96c fit CR, but might have to change some minor stuff.

3200/3400/98d Newer generation head

I think you are right on that. From the little I've read the 996 would be the TR, and then the 96C was when they went to the CR. So 2200 would be same as 996, then the 2400 same as 96c. Think theres a 98C somewhere in there too.

2000 series are a very tough head, they can come with knife rolls or snapping rolls. You DO NOT want the snapping rolls, that is why the 2000 series had a bad name.
