| I bought a 5 shank blu-jet 10-12 years ago for the same reasons you want one. I had used an unveferth a little bit and liked it. Bought the blu-jet because it was cheaper. It has fall points and disturbs the surface a little more than I’d like. It depends a lot on the soil type, speed, and amount of compaction.
I have ran it through cornstalks, and followed it with a no till drill sowing cover crops. That works ok. The drill helps level it some and by spring it’s usually fit to notill beans.
I think overall you’ll be disappointed. Not only will things have to be just right for it to work the way you think it will, it will be near impossible to run a combine at harvest without tracking things up worse than they were before. No matter how little disturbance they create, they really do work and that ground is going to be crazy mellow.
I bet I haven’t ran mine over 200 acres. | |
