| If your rye is like our Wisconsin rye, a merger will struggle with merging it no matter what make it is.
The crop is very slippery and gets caught between the back of the pickup teeth and the cross belt.
We have used a tri- flex H&S and a new Oxbow.
The Oxbow works a little better, but you have to have patience.
Merged the windrows don't feed into the chopper as well either.
We tried chopping rye this fall without merging it. It was cut with a 16 foot discbine. It fed into the chopper much better, but the chopper had to drive faster in order to cover the same amount of ground. It slows The chopping process down a little bit but we don't have one person tied up merging the windows.
