SE SD | In remote districts with very small towns, I think it helps attract/retain staff that may be driving 30-50 miles or more each way to get to work each day.
I think this staff commuting situation also figures into snow days being called more easily than they were years ago. The roads might be fine in the town with the school and marginally passable in the country but the staff has to get there, too. And a lot of them come from the bigger town 30-50 miles away. | |
