junk fun - 12/1/2023 13:05 Yes, that would be a tensile brace, like a wire or cable pulling it square. If you use wood, you want it as a compression brace, you see that pic the X, the one that counts is in compression, the tension side of the X is useless with the cut in the middle.

From an engineering stand point, can you explain why , if only a half of an "X", would you want the 2x" to be in compression as opposed to tension?
