Where I'm at they get out early every Wednesday at 1 pm. I really think we have created an environment where the teachers don't have power to control the kids and they want another day off. Can't say I blame them. Do you think sports and other extra circular activities will take a day off? Not here, the girls basketball coach had been running 2 a days to start the season, you know because its so important. I'm not saying that it is wrong to expect athletes to make sacrifices but some of these adults in charge of high school athletics have gone off the rails and expect way too much from our kids in forms of practice, weights and other commitments. Then we wonder why there are only 2 seniors on the team and everyone else has mental health problems.

Success is a grind, to achieve big things it takes hard work and dedication. Most don't have the fortitude, either mental or physical, to achieve at high levels. Sports in high school are voluntary and yes they do keep score. Some of the best lessons I ever learned came from playing sports.
