Floyd County, Iowa | I can't believe that you didn't look at them right away.
It was a standard practice years ago at a GM dealership (I used to have company vehicles service there) to go through "oil changer" techs fairly often. One of them told me that they get a commission for any parts they replace. Drain plugs, belts, hoses were their favorites. They were paid a low wage, so they were hungry for the bonus (his claim, not mine).
I caught them trying to change the serpentine belt and a new drain plug 2 months after the last service, and about 2000 miles. There was nothing wrong with the belt or plug, but it was a new oil tech. Both had been changed the last service, which caught my attention this time.
I confronted the dealership owner. He admitted what happened, blamed the tech for being "overzealous".
I quit doing business there, and they didn't like it that I started driving Fords.
Might be the case here. | |
