| We didn’t change any pay for the certified staff. As far as I’m concerned they are “salary”. We don’t pay much above state base so we couldn’t really lower salaries. You wouldn’t want to anyway, a first year teacher could probably make more money at the Dairy Queen 20 miles away. I think Texas pays off instructional minutes of class. You need the same minutes for the year no matter the schedule. If you keep track of contract days, you’ll notice you work more days than that at most districts.
The hourly staff got a standard cost of living raise. Besides a few that are capped out. And a few newer hires that we felt were underpaid due to inflation.
Actual school is 7:30 to 4 so many of the hourly employees get there at 7 and work until 4:30. We also have class or a work day on Fridays occasionally, about once a month.
They pay isn’t very good unless you’ve been there forever, and the hours weren’t ever good and they don’t have many work during summer. So it’s not really a job for someone wanting to make good money.
