Do you have to worry about cold ground from too much shade?

Down here we want as much residue on dryland to shade the ground to preserve moisture as possible, but in your area, maybe you want to chop it off?

No such thing as a dumb question, ask your neighbors what they have and why.

As far as fitting your machine, usually gotta butcher other colors pretty good to fit that big old throat opening, so probably best to find a direct fit CNH option. the 2000 and 3000 series IH and their NH counterparts usually dont sell very strong, and people on this site seem to get by fine with them, s that sounds like a good bang for the buck to me.

Cold ground is a little bit of a concern as well as trash management if I were to pull my hoe style air seeder through it the next spring. We find that our soybeans and sunflowers do get off to a little better start in the spring with some black ground to warm the soil, but I have been no tilling into wheat stubble with some success too. That's the thing about asking the neighbors, there's really very few around growing corn yet and they all run Deere. 1 neighbor with a Case IH just finished his first year of corn harvest so not too much help really around this area for corn headers.
